Biographies
Mascha Veech-Kosmatschof was born in Moscow in 1964. She comes from a family of artists and has lived in Vienna since 1979. She studied architecture from 1983 to 1988 at the University of Applied Arts under Professor Wilhelm Holzbauer and subsequently at the Architectural Association in London under Jan Kaplicky, Ron Herron and Zaha Hadid, under whom she took her degree in 1991. In 1993 she set up VMA together with Stuart Veech. Since 2001 she has also worked as assistant professor at the Institute of Architectural Design – Studio Hadid at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.

Stuart A. Veech was born in Chicago USA in 1964, studied at the University of Cincinnati, USA (degree in Urban Design 1987), at the Architectural Association London and at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna under Professor Paolo Piva. In 1993 together with Mascha Veech Kosmatschof he founded VMA. From 1998–2001 he was a lecturer at Vienna University of Technology in the Institute for Architecture and Design / Professor William Alsop. From 2001- 2006 he lectured on “Smart Technologies – Intelligent Buildings” at Graz University of Technology and in 2005 lectured at Innsbruck University on the subject of “Deployable Structures”. Since 2004 he has been a research partner in the Augmented and Ambient Research Network at the Royal College of Art (RCA) in London. In 2007 Stuart A. Veech was appointed Senior Research Fellow at Royal College of Art, London in the department of Innovation Design Engineering.
