Veech Media Architecture (VMA) was presented in Munich with the Golden Award in the category Corporate Architecture for the 480m2 trade fair pavilion for Swarovski Enlightened TM. The pavilion Ambient Gem at the exclusive Watch and Jewellery Show BASELWORLD convinced the members of the eminent jury by the way it sets new standards for the term “brand world”.

EURO 2008 Media Tower

European Football Championship 2008

The Urban Media Tower for ORF (Austrian Broadcasting Corporation) was a central urban feature for the four week activities surrounding the EM_2008 in Vienna, Austria. Strategically located adjacent to the Burgtheater the 17.5 meter multi-purpose temporary building incorporated a 60m² TV Studio, outdoor terrace, offices, technical spaces and three integrated LED video screens for live broadcast. Due to the planned five day construction phase and positioning upon the tram line tracks special consideration and intensive planning was necessary in reference to erecting the main modular structural frame, external aluminium cladding, and lighting/acoustic constraints in broadcast media.

BMW Mobile Pavilion

The proposed design created a dynamic mobile temporary structure to be used throughout Europe as a launching pad for the introduction of the new automobiles into the marketplace. The building was lifted off the ground to provide more space to facilitate a high volume of visitors and separate the building into different zones of activities. The central element of the design was the introduction of a hydraulic car lift in the center of the structure which allowed for the car to be transported vertically into the primary space for easier access for prospective test drivers. The elevated form, floating above the ground plane, was conceived as an aerodynmic digitally enhanced architectural form which needed be transported and easily assembled in a short period of time.

VMA Designs FSB Door Handle 1201/1202

VMA was invited to design a prototype door handle design for FSB (Franz Schneider Brakel GmbH + Co KG) as part of the Duo Handles Series and the finished product has recently been added to the FSB product family. The product series 1201 and 1202 are available directly from FSB (http://www.fsbna.com/1201; http://www.fsbna.com/1202).

DOOR HANDLE for FSB

FSB (Franz Schneider Brakel GmbH + Co KG) produces high-end door handles and accessories since 1881 and has invited selected architects and designers (including Ludwig Wittgenstein’s classic minimalist design) to collaborate on innovative prototypes in recent years. The state-of-the-art facilities provides an opportunity to research new design forms and production methods in the design production phase.

VMA was initially inspired by the Modernist streamlined designs of the 1930´s and the resultant free flowing form(s) elegantly transforms this energy into a contemporary context utilizing advanced digital modeling and advanced rapid prototyping machinery.

The design has a dual appearance – the front side with the straight, sleek, and slender compact aluminum form, while the back side with a 33 degree twist accentuates an expressive aerodynamic shape incorporating an unique tactile experience. The technical team was challenged with the the complex production methods of the two shapes, as well as, with the overall finishing to the surface texture. The design line has been recently added to the FSB collection and is available in various metallic surfaces and colors adding diversity to the expressive design.

Latent Utopias Exhibition

VMA´s installation as part of the `Latent Utopias´ exhibition examines the unconventional use of materials currently used in conventinal building construction and explores new applications and techniques which generate new possibilities in terms of creating flexible architectural spaces. A synthetic rubber material slowly transforms and blurs the boundaries between existing floor, wall and ceiling conditions, and creating a seamless three-dimensional architectural environment. A mechanical device interacts with the membrane and slowly animates its surface introducing a constant state of fluctuation and fluid deformation.
